Obituary

St. George, Utah - Kathryn Ann Duncan Rose Anderson passed away at her home in St. George, Utah, on September 21, 2024, at the age of 75. She was born on August 6, 1949, in Fillmore, Utah, the third of four children to James Stanley and Louie Barkdull Duncan, and spent her early years growing up with her brothers and sister in the nearby town of Meadow, where she experienced many of the joys and learned many of the responsibilities associated with small-town life in the 1950's.

Her family moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, in her teenage years and she graduated from Southern Nevada Vocational-Technical High School before starting college in Cedar City, Utah, at what was then called the College of Southern Utah. It was here that she met and was wooed by her future husband, Max Henry Rose, and they were later married in the St. George Temple on April 25, 1969.

Kathryn worked alongside Max during the early, lean years of marriage and graduate school, and worked just as hard as a dedicated homemaker when they began to welcome children and as Max advanced in his work and church duties. Kathryn too engaged in extensive service in the church, holding many positions of responsibility, including Ward Primary President, Ward Young Women President, Ward Relief Society President, and Stake Relief Society President. She also provided loving care to her aging parents in their declining years.

Max passed away in 2016 after more than 47 years of marriage. Later, Kathryn had the opportunity to meet the second love of her life, Bob Anderson, and the two were married on March 30, 2019. Besides finding joy serving together, including as temple workers, Bob and Kathryn were able to support, lift, and enjoy one another in both sickness and health throughout the years they had together. Over her life, by word and deed, Kathryn demonstrated her love of the gospel of Jesus Christ, her testimony of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and her commitment to sound moral principles, including responsibility, hard work, charity, prayer, and faith.

Kathryn is survived by her husband, Bob; son, Tyler (Francesca) Rose; daughter, Jennifer (Brandon) Stratton; daughter, Marchelle (Samuel) Tobler; son, Nathan Rose; brother, James Kay (Peggy) Duncan; sister, Joan Brooks; and ten grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, James Stanley and Louie Barkdull Duncan; and brother, Phil Stanley Duncan.
