Kati
Ciammaichella
December 26, 1989 – August 12, 2017
I have the honor of speaking at Kati's funeral on behalf of our family. We would like to thank everyone for the out pouring of love and support we have received during this incredibly hard time. Trying to capture the essence, emotion, wonder, and complexity of Kati's incredible life cannot be accomplished in a single speech, day, month, or year, but we have to try and share the beauty that was completely engulfed in every part of Kati.
Kati was a daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She was born December 26, 1989, and like her birthdate, she did everything on her terms. Even at birth she came in her own way, surprising even the doctor who delivered her with her face looking up at him. On the first day of kindergarten she sat down and began explaining exactly what style she wanted her hair to be, and we all knew at an early age she was going to be someone who knew exactly what she wanted.
Her beautiful smile, with dimples, always brightened a room. Her matter of fact, hold nothing back attitude always made life interesting. Her brutal honesty was refreshing and at times hilarious. Even when she was insulting the way you were dressed, or the way your hair was done, you couldn't help but laugh to the point of crying, all the while wanting to slug her.
Kati was our family klutz. At least once every day you would hear the familiar clamor of Kati crashing down the stairs followed by "I am okay", and the giggling that soon followed, always started by Kati. She tripped, slipped, fell, and crashed all with a smile and laugh.
She was as strong as steel, but had the heart of an angel. She loved to help everyone who needed it with no questions asked. She was our sounding board, our rock, and the most incredible cheerleader. When things looked hopeless she had a way of making everything okay. "We can get through this" was her mantra. She loved to be everyone's stylist, whether you wanted that advise or not, and she was usually right, much to everyone's dismay.
Kati was wise beyond her years, and her example will continue to go on within each and every one that knew her. She will continue to be a huge part of our lives and we will continue to share her wisdom and love with each other. Kati LOVED all of her nieces and nephews. Zoey, Aliah, Austin, Sophie, and Ryan were able to spend such little time with her, but all of that was precious and cherished. We will all strive to keep her memory alive within them. She will not be forgotten.
We will love and miss you forever.
We will be together again.
"It is always surprising how small a part of life is taken up by meaningful moments. Most often they are over before they start, although they cast a light on the future and make the person who originated them unforgettable. Kati has shined such a light on us all."
