IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Katie Jo
Ballard Erickson
November 26, 1974 – January 17, 2026
Katie Jo Ballard Erickson was born in St. George, UT on November 26, 1974, to Sue Ann and Brad Ballard. She sadly passed away at home on January 17, 2026.
From an early age, Katie showed fierce independence and a strong work ethic. She believed deeply in standing on her own two feet and worked hard for everything she achieved. As a child, Katie had a special love for animals and was known for bringing home animals whenever she could. That compassion and determination followed her into her teenage years, when she put herself through high school—working during the day and attending classes at night. Through grit and perseverance, she graduated from Millcreek High School in 1993.
Katie faced profound loss early in life with the tragic passing of her mother, Sue Ann. Despite heartbreak, she pressed forward with remarkable strength. She was tenacious, driven, and never one to give up—a fighter through every season of her life, right to the very end.
In 2004, Katie married Douglas Erickson. She embraced the role of motherhood, helping to raise Doug's three children, Trevon, Brittain, and McKenna, loving them as her own. Later, Katie and Doug welcomed four children together: Gage, Savanna, Ashley, and Kassandra.
Being a mother was one of Katie's greatest joys. She loved her children deeply and always wanted the best for them. She encouraged them to try new things, work hard, and be the best versions of themselves. More than anything, she wanted her children to have opportunities she herself never had.
Katie is preceded in death by her beloved mother, Sue Ann, and her sister, Molly.
She leaves behind her precious children, Gage, Savanna (Savy), Ashley, and Kassandra (Kassie); Doug, the father of her children; her stepchildren, Trevon, Brittain, and McKenna. She is also survived by her grandmother, Monta; her father, Brad; her brother, Kody; and her sister, Marci, along with many others who loved her dearly.
Katie was a beautiful person, strong, and compassionate. She will be deeply missed, forever cherished, and always held in our hearts.
Grant us the serenity to accept the things we cannot change, courage to change the things we can, and wisdom to know the difference."
Spread your wings, Katie.
The family will hold a private service at a later date.
