IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Kelly Floyd
Lent
July 15, 1958 – November 1, 2020
Santa Clara – Kelly Floyd Lent, of Santa Clara, Utah passed away Sunday November 1, 2020, just 37 days after being diagnosed with glioblastoma multiforme. Kelly was born July 15, 1958 in Pocatello, Idaho, to Margaret Loughney and Norman Floyd Lent. He loved his childhood in Pocatello, growing up with his sisters and exploring with his friends. He graduated from Pocatello High School in 1976 and then went to Brigham Young University where he received bachelor's degree in math, physics, and computer science and a master's degree in computer science.
Kelly served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Torreon, Mexico where he loved the people and the language. Kelly was self-motivated to learn and would take advantage of any opportunity to further his knowledge, spending any extra time he had reading books and articles about science or math. He was also recently teaching himself to read the Farsi language. Kelly had an extremely strong testimony in his faith, never wavering, and loved ones could lean on him during their own trials. Kelly was humble, meek, and kind, and would do anything for anyone, at any time. You could depend on him. He spent his life in service to his family and they will all miss his hilarious stories, fantastic sense of humor, and unconditional love that he gave so easily. He was a gentle soul, never seeking the limelight or recognition. His favorite church calling was serving in the nursery so he could be with his granddaughter, because "Who doesn't love playing with trucks and eating treats?"
Kelly will be missed by his wife, Christine, whom he married May 5, 1983 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple; and their children: Lauren, Ryan, Hayley, and Melanie. He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Margaret and Ross Bowman; his sisters: Pauline Woodward and Sandie Erickson; mother-in-law, Leslie Reichert; and his grandchildren: Adalynn, Hudson, Liam and Emma Willinger, and Halle and Penelope Lent. He was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Lindsey; father, Norman; and father-in-law, Don Reichert.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 7, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. at the Metcalf Mortuary Chapel, 288 West St. George Blvd, St. George, Utah. A visitation will be held prior to services, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. at the mortuary.
