IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ladell Clarence
Prisbrey
July 31, 1930 – June 29, 2012
ST. GEORGE, UTAH - LaDell Clarence Prisbrey, 81, passed away June 29, 2012, surrounded by his wife and children at DRMC. LaDell was born on July 31, 1930, in Cedar City, Utah to Clarence LeDell Prisbrey and Mary Empey Prisbrey. LaDell married his high school sweetheart, Fern Asay, on July 15, 1949, in the St. George Temple. They were blessed with seven children who were born and raised in St. George
When LaDell was 12, his parents moved the family from Cedar to St. George. He loved "Sandtown," and rarely left except to go to the cabin on Cedar Mountain, where he took his family to fish, snowmobile, and make homemade ice cream.
A member of the Dixie High Class of 1949, he obtained his pilot's license when he was 19. He loved flying and owned a plane until his death. After getting married, he moved to Nevada to find work and quickly became a Master Electrician and Refrigeration Mechanic. He returned to St. George at first opportunity and worked for Kellwood/Hawthorne as an Electrical Engineer traveling the country. In 1968 he started St. George Refrigeration and Electric, which is still run by his sons today. He loved heavy equipment and ran road graders at the "farm" on the Arizona border until the time of his passing. LaDell had a curious, mechanical mind. He was always finding a problem to fix. A trait he passed onto his children. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, pine nut picker, and enjoyed spending time with his boys and Grandpa Jerome. He was an active member of the LDS Church.
He is survived by his wife Fern of St. George; his children: Ilene Jones (Mark) of St. George, Boyd (Janet) of St. George, Arla Sanders (David) of Hurricane, Warren (Cari) of Washington, Nada Andersen (Scott) of Lindon, and Aaron (Kimberly) of Enterprise; 24 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren; and his siblings: Zona McAllister of Kanab, Kent of Ivins, and Juanita Spencer of Glendale, Utah. He was preceded in death by his eldest son, Kelly; his parents; and two younger brothers, Loran, his partner in crime of Henderson, Nevada, and Clark of Nephi, Utah.
Funeral service will be held Friday, July 6, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. George LDS Stake Center, 591 West 500 North, St. George, Utah. Visitation will take place Thursday, July 5, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Metcalf Mortuary, 288 West St. George Boulevard, St. George, Utah and Friday, July 6, 2012 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the St. George LDS Stake Center, prior to services. Interment will take place at the St. George City Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Metcalf Mortuary, 435-673-4221.
