St. George, Utah - Lannette Hunt Burt passed away July 12, 2013. She was born July 23, 1942 in Loma Linda, California to Wallace Melvin Hunt and Grace Myrtle Terry. She was raised in the Los Angeles area before moving to Yorba Linda, CA.

Lannette graduated from Fullerton High School in 1960, and later attended Brigham Young University.

On September 13, 1962, she married Donald Herman Burt, of Salt Lake City, in Manti, Utah. She then moved back to Yorba Linda where they spent most of their married life. In the early years of their marriage, Lannette worked as a cosmetologist before becoming involved in service at their kids school. This service lead to employment at the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District; first as a multi-media specialist, then as a school bus driver for special needs children.

Lannette will be remembered for her love and service to her own family, in addition to the many youth she loved and encouraged. She was a second Mom, and many times a substitute Mom, to many. Lannette enjoyed oil painting and other crafts throughout her life. She was an outstanding cook, and had a particular talent with baking. Her cinnamon rolls and chocolate chip cookies are legendary. Lannette was also a talented organist and pianist; in her later years she was privileged to sing with the Anaheim East Stake Chorale, which brought her much pleasure. Despite her many health challenges throughout her life, Lannette always had a happy disposition and a zest for living. She will be dearly missed.

Lannette is survived by her husband, Donald H. Burt; daughter, Kellie (David) Cook; son, J. Todd (Paula) Burt; daughter, Paige (John) Overton; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She is also survived by her father, Wallace Hunt; sister, Caroline Goodbaudy; and brother, Terry Hunt. She is preceded in death by her mother, Grace Hunt; and brothers, Mel and Derrell Hunt.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Southgate 2 ^nd Ward Chapel, 1068 West Chandler Drive, St. George, Utah. Friends and family may also call Tuesday evening from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Metcalf Mortuary, 288 West St. George Blvd. and on Wednesday at the Chapel, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., prior to services. Interment will be held Thursday, July 18, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Elysian Gardens, 1075 East 4580 South, Salt Lake City, Utah. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Metcalf Mortuary, 435-673-4221.
