Obituary

Larry Walter Morgan, 74, died on January 21, 2023, in Hurricane, Utah.  He was born on March 8, 1948, in Laramie, Wyoming to Herbert Emanuel Morgan and Laura Bell Cunningham. He had two siblings, Carol Ann and Gary Lee.  He was very close to both his siblings but especially to his younger brother, Gary. Gary's death at the age of 55 from a heart attack, affected him deeply.

Larry married Mary "Toni" Schumacher in Laramie, WY in 1964 and had his first child, Leanne, in January 1965. A second daughter, Sherri, followed in May 1966. They divorced 3 years later. However, they became friends the last 5 years of his life after moving to Hurricane and she helped take care of him during his declining health.

He then married Lynette Lebeda in Laramie, WY in 1969 and they had two children, Ranae, born August 1970 and Lance, born January 1973 but they would divorce 5 years later.

Larry became proficient at his trade as a carpenter and helped build several homes and businesses in Laramie, and the surrounding area, including a home for his small family. He also built cabinets and did finish work. Later in life, he took to building beautifully crafted wooden cars, trucks, trains, baby cradles and jewelry boxes. He freely gave these treasures to everyone he loved in his life.

In 1980, he married Lynn Workman. Together they raised her two girls, Shannon and Aimee, from a previous marriage. In 1989 they moved to LaGrande, Oregon. They loved to hike, camp and fish in the mountains there. Unfortunately, Larry and Lynn would divorce after approximately 36 years together, but they always remained friends. She passed away in 2016 at the age of 69 of a stroke while visiting him in LaGrande from California. He missed her greatly and always kept a photo of her on his nightstand.

Larry was often called "The Comeback Kid" because of all the accidents he survived throughout his life. He broke his back in a four-wheeling accident, had a grapefruit-sized tumor on his kidney, broke his neck in a truck accident and cut off the fingers on his right hand on a table saw; just to name a few. He bragged that he'd been life-flighted seven times! He lived an action-packed life, full of one adventure after another.

Larry loved taking all of his children arrowhead hunting around the bluffs and Indian camps of Wyoming, and taught them all about his favorite sport, fishing! He made friends wherever he went. He could strike up a conversation with someone fishing next to him, and before you knew it, they were fast friends. He also believed in being on time and expected everyone else to hold to that same standard.

In 2017, he moved to Hurricane, Utah to be closer to family. Of course, having year-round sunshine and several fish-filled lakes in the area, were a bonus. He loved coming to Sunday dinners and watching his grandkids and great grandkids eat and play together! He loved apple pie with ice cream, Hershey's chocolate and also enjoyed a good strawberry shake now and then!

On April 28, 2018, he joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day-saints. He came to love the Lord and the scriptures and eventually went on to go through the Cedar City Temple on Sept. 28, 2022.

Larry was finally overcome by cirrhosis of the liver, back pain and bleeding ulcers. He leaves behind three daughters: Leanne Kuhlmann (Thomas), Sherri McDonald (David), and Ranae Morgan; one son, Lance Morgan; and two stepdaughters: Shannon Schaefer (Matt) and Aimee Fletcher (Jeff). He will also be missed by his 15 living grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Larry is preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Laura Morgan; his brother, Gary L Morgan; and grandsons, Clay and Noah. He will be missed as he journeys onto his next adventure.

A Celebration of Life will be held on February 11, 2023, at 1:00 at the LDS church at 642 North 2850 West, Hurricane, UT 84737.
