Obituary

LaVerl H. Bushell, age 86, passed away on Father's Day, June 21, 2026, at his home in Hurricane, Utah.

He was born April 18, 1940, in Woodland, Utah, to Herbert and Marba Gines Bushell.

LaVerl attended South Summit High School, where he excelled in both football and wrestling, earning the title of Utah State Wrestling Champion.

He married his high school sweetheart, Rosa Alene Brimhall, in the Salt Lake Temple on Friday, June 13, 1958. They made their home in Woodland, Utah, where they raised a beautiful family of four children.

LaVerl faithfully served the Kamas Valley community as Manager of Kamas Woodland Telephone Company for many years. He also enjoyed operating heavy equipment for various companies and generously gave his time through service on numerous community boards.

A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, LaVerl served faithfully in many church callings throughout his life. He was especially grateful for the opportunity to serve a service mission, where he formed many cherished friendships.

After the passing of his beloved wife, Alene, LaVerl found companionship again and married Beverly Perkins Goodwin on January 8, 2022.

LaVerl is preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Marba Gines Bushell; loving wife, Rosa Alene Brimhall Bushell; son Keith Bushell; sister Deona Lambert; brother Gene Bushell; in-laws Bert and Afton Mitchell Brimhall; brother-in-law Rodney Brimhall; and stepson Chris Goodwin.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly Goodwin; his children, Julie (Tim) Woodard, Lois (John) Kirkham, and Verlene (Jeff) Lewis; six grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and stepchildren, Annette (Chris) Davis and Michael (Connie) Goodwin.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Shauntelle Trapp for the exceptional care, compassion, and comfort she provided during LaVerl's final days. Her kindness and support meant so much to LaVerl and his family.

A viewing will be held in Hurricane, Utah on Monday, June 29, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Hurricane 17th Ward located at 272 South 700 West.

Funeral services will be held in Francis, Utah on Tuesday, June 30, 2026 at 1:00 p.m., with a viewing prior from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Francis Second Ward, 387 Last Frontier Lane, Francis, Utah. Interment will be in the Marion Cemetery.
