Obituary

St. George, Utah - Leah Virginia Ferris Burris, 90, passed away peacefully May 16, in St. George, Utah, surrounded by her family. She was born February 3, 1925, in Butte, Montana, to Aileen and Rolland Ferris. The family moved shortly after her birth and homesteaded east of Choteau, MT. She and her brothers, Jim and Don, and sister, Kay, all grew up and attended school in Choteau. Leah graduated from the University of Montana with a degree in Psychology and Philosophy in 1947. She worked for Hartford Institute of Living and Continental Airlines. In 1953 she married Jack Campbell Burris of Omaha, Nebraska, where they lived and raised their two children, Gail and Rob. They moved to Big Sky, MT in 1983, and later spent the winters in St George. She loved golf, bridge, Montana, University of Nebraska football, and Jeopardy, and everyone knew her as "Little Leah." Leah was preceded in death by husband, Jack; and brothers, Jim and Don. She is survived by daughter, Gail Cooksey, and her husband Robert, of Colleyville, TX; son, Rob Burris and his wife, Felicity; grandson, Shane Tali, of Big Sky, working in Haiti; and sister, Kay Feist, of Great Falls, MT. The family asks that memorials be sent in Leah's name to The Foundation of Dixie Regional Medical Center, 1424 E. Foremaster Dr, St George, Utah 84790. No services were held.
