St. George, Utah – Lee LaMar Chamberlain, 89, passed away September 15, 2023. He was born May 9, 1934, in Oak City, Utah to Heber La Mar Chamberlain and Hannah Margaret Talbot.
Lee was raised in Orderville, Utah. He graduated May 1952 from Valley High School as valedictorian. He attended Southern Utah University and Utah State. He graduated with Honors and a Teaching Degree but chose to work for the Government and Farmers Home Administration from June 1961 to September 1994. He served in the U.S. Airforce for two years.
Lee was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in the St. George Temple as an Ordinance Worker for 14 years, Ward Clerk for many years, in the Bishopric, Young Men's, Scout Leader, served a mission in Adam-ondi-Ahman from 2002-2003, Stake Missionary, and Ward History.
Lee married Anna Lee Bartholomew on May 31, 1962, in the Salt Lake Temple. They met in Roosevelt, Utah where Lee was working for the FHA, and she was teaching school in the Uintah School District. They were the parents of eight children: Laurie (Scott Snow) of Washington, Utah; Howard (Tishalynn Stucki) of St. George, Utah; Bart (Jackie Vasquez) of Henderson, Nevada; Kent (Cindy Alldredge) of St. George, Utah; Bonnie (Reid Byington) of St. George, Utah; Connie (Roger Rasmussen) of San Tan Valley, Arizona; Jennie (Alan Davies) of Cedar City, Utah; and Matt (Annette Saline) of Sandy, Utah. He is also survived by 31 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Margaret and La Mar Chamberlain; and sisters: Irene Lamb and Ver Dawn Wood; and granddaughter, Lindsey Snow.
Funeral services will be held Friday, September 22, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in the LDS Chapel located at 550 East 700 South, St. George, Utah. A visitation will be held Friday prior to services, from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Church. Interment will follow in the St. George City Cemetery, 600 East Tabernacle Street.
