Obituary

St. George, Utah - Lehman Eugene "Gene" Shawler, 95, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, August 15, 2017. He was born August 10, 1922 in Youngstown, Illinois to Leo J. and Mabel L. Shawler.
Gene moved to Monmouth, Illinois in 1928. He proudly served his country during WWII in the 507th Bomb Squadron, 333rd Group. He was honorably discharged in 1946.
In 1939 Gene moved to Long Beach, California. He married Betty Lorraine McKee on July 4, 1941. They had three children: Terry, Linda and Bill.
Gene was a gifted carpenter and enjoyed ocean fishing. He was a member of the Long Beach Tuna Club and received many awards during his fishing days.
Gene is survived by his children: Terry, Linda and Bill; and his sister, Shirley. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends, who all loved him dearly.
Graveside services with Military Honors will be held Saturday, August 19, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. at Tonaquint Cemetery, 1777 South Dixie Drive, St. George, Utah.
