Leonard Clark Hardy St. George, UT - Leonard Clark Hardy passed away on November 10, 2009 in St. George, Utah at the age of 79 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was the son of David Rogers Hardy and Lura Hazel Fowler. Clark had three older brothers and one sister: Wilbur (Bill), Chester (Chet), Richard and Loreta. He was born and raised in St. George, Utah until the age of 12 when he moved to the Las Vegas area with his family. Clark married Evelyn Davis from Delta, Utah on April 12, 1956 in the Salt Lake City Temple. They lived in Las Vegas until 1973. They had six sons while living in Las Vegas. He served in the Army as a combat medic during the Korean War. When he returned in 1953, he went to work as a postal carrier in Las Vegas. In 1973 he transferred with the Postal Service to work at the Delta, Utah Post Office as a clerk. In 1978 he served as Postmaster of the Hinckley, Utah Post Office until his retirement in 1990. In 1978 he joined the Hinckley Lions Club. He held many positions in the club, and when he moved to St. George in 1995, he had his membership transferred to the Washington City Lions Club, in which he was a member until his death. He also served many years in the District Lions. Clark served in the Boy Scouts for many years, mostly in the Cub Scouts program and 11 year- olds. He also held many other callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Evelyn and Clark served a full-time mission for the Church in Oklahoma City in 1997. When they returned from their mission in1998, he served as Ward Mission Leader. Since his retirement to St. George, he has worked at Deseret Industries and the St. George Temple, and he spent many hours of service at the Bishop's Storehouse for eight years. He enjoyed working with the Salvation Army at Christmas time from 2004 to 2007. Clark is survived by his wife, Evelyn; sons Leonard (Ronda), Hurricane, Utah; David (Cheryl) Price, Utah; Robert (Melanie), St. George, Utah; Paul (Kelly), Spring Creek, Nevada; and Mark (Roberta), Jensen, Utah. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and his brother, Richard. Preceded in death by his parents, stillborn son, and brothers Bill and Chet, and sister Loreta Pratt. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Metcalf Mortuary, 288 W. St. George Blvd., St. George, Utah. Visitations will be on Friday, November 13, 2009 from 7 to 8:30 p.m.. and Saturday, November 14, 2009 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the services at Metcalf Mortuary. Interment will be in the Tonaquint Cemetery, under the direction of Metcalf Mortuary, (435)673-4221. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Southern Utah Home Care & Hospice or the LDS Church Perpetual Education Fund.
