Obituary

Ivins, Utah – Linda Elwell passed away September 3, 2023 in Cedar City, Utah. Linda was born to Ralph Waldo and Esther Mae Huffman on November 3, 1944, in Los Angeles, California. As an only child Linda was the delight of her parents.

As a young woman Linda worked for McCloskey Varnish company where she would meet the love of her life, George Earl Elwell Jr. George and Linda would be married on January 21, 1967, in Norwalk California and were blessed with two children, George Jeffery and Lisa Darlene. George and Linda would cherish 54 wonderful years of marriage together prior to George's passing in May of 2021.

Over their 54 years of marriage Linda would become known in every community she lived in. Having a servant's heart Linda could not know someone was in need without blessing them with a hot meal, and occasionally organizing fund raisers to help with financial needs. As much as Linda loved to serve her community, nothing compared to her work as a mother and grandmother. During their golden years of retirement George and Linda would resettle from California to Ivins Utah in 1997 and it quickly became their home. As George became increasingly involved in city politics, Linda became equally involved in her new home, fiercely championing for the unloved and unwanted animals. Linda would establish and lead the organization known as Friends of Ivins Animal Shelter and became instrumental in leading Ivins to become a "no-kill" city. Supporting the animal shelter would be one of Linda's proudest achievements.

Linda lived out our Savior's command to care for the poor, the orphan, and the widow (Isaiah 1:17).

Linda is survived by her son, George, and his wife Maria; daughter, Lisa and her husband Tim Maserang; a cousin more like a brother) Jeffrey Hart and his wife Patricia; and a special "adopted" son, Kelly Campbell and his wife Jodie; eight grandchildren: Ashley, Chris, Tyler, Emily, TJ, Cody, Kaitlyn, and Henry; six great-grandchildren: Ayva, Kylie, Jack, Jazlynn, Willow Rae, Louella Mae; one great-great grandson Maverick and numerous nieces, nephews and special friends.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at All Seasons Living in Cedar City and the IHC Hospice Care Team who so compassionately cared for our mother and grandmother for the last several months.

A Graveside service will be held Saturday, September 9th, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the Ivins City Cemetery located at 200 W 400 N, Ivins, UT 84730
