Washington City, Utah – Linda Louise Simonson, age 84, passed peacefully surrounded by family on her birthday, February 17, 2025, in St. George, Utah. She was born in Logan, Utah on February 17, 1941, to Brigham James Olsen and Doris Johnsen. Linda married Kent Simonson on April 16, 1965, in the Salt Lake City Temple.

She was raised in the Salt Lake City area and attended Jordan High School. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served with her husband, Kent, in the St. George, Utah mission. Linda loved the Gospel, served many church callings and worked in many temples. She was a wonderful seamstress and made many items of clothing for her children and grandchildren—from suits to prom dresses and more—including the creation of hundreds of costumes for performing professionals with her sister, Ester. She took great joy in helping church missionaries by repairing and tailoring their Sunday clothing.

Family was very important to her, and she loved researching her genealogy. Along with being a great Executive Secretary, Linda was a wonderful pianist and ward organist for over 60 years. She found joy in passing down her talents by giving piano and music lessons to all her grandchildren, and loved singing with her brother, Mark.

Linda raised four children in Sandy, Utah. She leaves behind her husband, Kent Simonson; her brother, Mark Olsen (Janice); her sister, Ester Taatarii; three sons, Scott Simonson (Lisa), Brad Simonson (Shauna), and Ryan Simonson; her daughter, Janell Simonson; and nine grandchildren: Joshua, Nicholas, Shaelynn, Taylor, Katelin, Mallory, Ashlynn, Xander, and Chloe. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Gerd Spencer (Kenneth).

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at the Washington Fields 19th Ward Chapel, 115 West 2000 South, Washington, Utah. Viewings will be held on Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Metcalf Mortuary, 288 West St. George Blvd., St. George, Utah, and on Saturday prior to the services, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the church. Interment will take place at Washington City Cemetery, 300 Park View Drive, Washington, Utah.
