Obituary

St. George, Utah - Lois Wilma Scott Baker passed peacefully from this life on August 26, 2012, as a result of cancer.

She was born July 14, 1926, in Wessington Springs, South Dakota, to Nettie Ethel Husbandt and Gordon Ray Scott.

At age 16, Lois moved to California where she met and married Lyle Martin Anderson in 1945. Lois and Lyle were blessed with two children, Greg and Jill. Lyle preceded her in death.

In 1959, Lois married Dr. Val Sneed. Later, the family moved to Quito, Ecuador, and then, in 1963, to Las Vegas, Nevada. Val passed away in 1979.

Lois spent over twenty-five years working at the front desk of the Hacienda Hotel in Las Vegas.

After having been a widow for twelve years and retired, Lois moved to St. George, Utah, to be closer to family. In 1992, she married J. Ray Baker. After their marriage, Lois was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She and Ray were sealed in the St. George Temple.

Lois enjoyed playing golf, traveling, spending summers in Beaver, Utah and researching her family genealogy. She took great pleasure in spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a friend to all she knew and lived a Christ-like life by helping others whenever she could. True to her character, Lois remained positive and upbeat during the health challenges she faced.

She is survived by her children: Gregory L. Anderson (Joyce) of York, Pennsylvania, Jill E. Jones (Royce) of St. George, Utah; step-children: Jane (Tom) Hogan of Milwaukee, OR, Becky (Larry) Loveridge of Kennewick, WA, Barry (Lee) Baker of Escondido, CA, Carolyn Baker of Galt, CA, Diane (Earl) Fore of Rio Linda, CA, Pamela (Tom) Sortomme of Ephrata, WA and Peggy Jackson of Escondido, CA; 31 grandchildren and 54 great-grandchildren; sister Neva Christensen (South Dakota) and Norman Scott (Wyoming). She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Lee Scott and Ralph Scott; and two grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lois honor to the Humanitarian Fund at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
