St. George, Utah - Our beloved Lorie Tait Schafer returned home to our Heavenly Father on September 8, 2013 at her home surrounded by her loving family, after fighting a courageous battle with cancer. Lorie was born March 12, 1965 in Cedar City, Utah to Theo Darwin and Norma Jean Tait. Lorie married the love of her life, James Frank Schafer in Las Vegas, Nevada on August 4, 1995. She was the proud mother of Hayley, James Jr., Logan, Aubrey, and Madison. She loved and cared for her husband and children with great dedication and passion. Lorie dearly loved all the children she cared for over the many years. She was a very special aunt to her many nieces and nephews. She is welcomed into heaven by her mother, Norma Jean Tait. She is survived by her husband and children, her father Theo (Linda) Tait, her siblings Richard (Cecilia) Tait, Tammy (Dee) Christensen, Darwin (Nancy) Tait, Debora Tait, and James (Melissa) Tait. The family would like to give a special thanks to Sally, the IHC Hospice nurse, Doctor Watson, Doctor Haslem, and the Coyote Springs LDS Ward for all the help they have provided to Lorie and her family. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 13, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Coyote Springs LDS Ward Chapel, 1905 East Rustic Drive, St. George, Utah. Visitations will be held Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Metcalf Mortuary, 288 West St. George Blvd. and on Friday at the Chapel from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., prior to services.
