Lorna Anderson Hendrickson

Lorna Anderson Hendrickson, 93, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2026 in St. George, Utah. Lorna was born April 1, 1933 to Mark Sr and Lillian (Gardner) Anderson, and raised in Provo, Utah. She married George Kent Hendrickson on March 3, 1955 in the Manti, Utah Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They lived in Provo, Orem, and St. George, Utah, and briefly in Great Falls, Montana.

Lorna and Kent were blessed with four children: Bryce Hendrickson (Sandra Johnstone) of Gilbert, AZ, Lynne Moore (Doug) of Columbia, MO, Mark Hendrickson (Holly McArthur) of Santa Clara, UT, and Suzette McBride (Andrew) of Mesa, AZ. Lorna was also blessed with 14 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Lorna loved being a mother and grandmother. She adored her family and they adored her. She had a sweet habit of ending every conversation or note with the words “Love Ya Loads”. It became her signature catchphrase. Lorna was a faithful and active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served within the church in many capacities but enjoyed being a Primary teacher the very most. She was passionate about being involved in humanitarian projects and made tons of quilts and stuffed animals to share with those in need. She will be remembered for her life full of service.

Lorna was a dedicated member of Daughters of the Utah Pioneers (DUP). She had a great love for her pioneer ancestors. You could always find her decorating the tables for various luncheons and volunteering as a docent at the DUP museum. She also served in many leadership positions. The friends she made through DUP were some of her most treasured friendships.

Lorna loved everyone and had a way of making everyone she came in contact with feel special. You could count on her to make friends everywhere she went. She was the queen of laundry and there was nothing she couldn’t alter or mend.

Lorna had many jobs throughout her life. She started working at a young age by assisting in operations at the Hotel Roberts in Provo, which her family owned. She could make a bed with perfect corners and fold towels with precision. After high school, she used this hospitality experience to secure her favorite position: a switchboard operator at the North Rim Grand Canyon Lodge. She loved to tell stories about her summers spent there. She spent many years working with her husband, Kent, in their business, Tri-State Office Supply on Tabernacle Street in St. George.

Lorna is survived by her sister, Geraldine Bushell, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins, including Verlyn Maxwell, who was raised as a sister with her. She is preceded in death by her husband, Kent, son, Bryce, father and mother, Mark Sr and Lillian Anderson, and her siblings, Mark Jr., Homer, Dean, Robert, Madeline, Ila Gene, and Melba.

Funeral services for Lorna will be held Friday, August 21, 2026 at 1:00 pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chapel located at 3815 Rachel Drive, Santa Clara, UT. Visitations for family and friends will be held on Thursday, August, 20, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Metcalf Bonzo Mortuary, 288 W. St. George Blvd., St. George, UT., and Friday, August, 21 from 12:00-12:45 pm at the chapel, prior to services. Interment will be in the Tonaquint Cemetery, St. George, UT.
