IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lourdes Martina
Johnson
April 13, 1962 – March 29, 2025
It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Lourdes "Luly" Martina Johnson, who died peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, March 29, 2025, around 7:00 p.m. Luly was born on April 13, 1962, in Lima, Peru, to Eva Dorila Figueroa Sanchez Chavez and Oscar Leoncio Chavez Blanco. She was 62-years-old at the time of her passing.
Luly's journey to the United States began on August 25, 1981, when she arrived with hopes of building a better life for herself. She initially settled in Upland, California, where she met the LDS Missionaries and was baptized on November 7, 1981. Two years later, she moved to Utah County where she met her future husband, Brent Michael Johnson. They were married on January 29, 1988, and together they had two daughters, Michaela and Ashley. She also welcomed being a stepmother to Beau Johnson.
In 1994, Luly and her family moved to Southern Utah, where she resided for the next 30 years of her life. She worked as a certified nursing assistant for around 35 years, providing care in nursing homes and at Intermountain Healthcare for 24 years before retiring in 2018 due to health reasons. Everyone that knew Luly knew of her very strong work ethic. She had a special talent for connecting with people and making them feel cared for, an extension of her warm and generous spirit.
Luly had many passions in life, including sewing gifts for others and was an avid fan of Donald Duck and Coca-Cola. She was known for her kindness and her love of giving gifts, always thinking of others, and for staying in touch with friends across the country– maintaining close friendships for decades.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Brent; daughters, Michaela and Ashley; her mother, Eva; brother, Oscar and sister-in-law Maruja; sister-in-law, Heidi; grandchildren: Dylan (17) and Aero (4); and countless friends who loved her dearly.
Luly was preceded in death by her father, Oscar, who has been waiting for her in Heaven; her stepson, Beau; and her cherished chihuahua, Suede, who was her loyal companion.
Luly's warmth, love, and friendship touched so many lives, and she will be remembered for her caring nature, her incredible strength, work ethic, and her unwavering faith in God. Her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 5, 2025, at 10:30 a.m., with a visitation prior at 9:30 a.m., at the Washington LDS Chapel, 600 East Telegraph Street, Washington, Utah.
Rest in peace, Luly. You will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
