Hurricane, Utah - Lucy Merle Hale Miller(Merle), 90, passed away Sunday, August 28, 2011, from complications due to surgery. Merle was born June 17, 1921 in Pensacola, Florida. She was the 4 ^th of 5 daughters born to Joseph and Nellie Hale. She spent her childhood in Pensacola and graduated from Pensacola High School in 1939. Her parents were early members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Pensacola area and she was raised a member of the church from an early age. She met and married the love of her life, Daniel L. Miller, while he was attending flight training at Pensacola Naval Air Station. They were married on May 25, 1940. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Atlanta Temple on May 25, 1991. They have one son, Daniel L. Miller Jr. (deceased) and three daughters: Donna, Jeanie, and Jill. They enjoyed 65 happy years together before her husband passed away on December 25, 2005.

Our mother will be greatly missed. She was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend to all who knew her. She enjoyed many activities such as: traveling, shopping, spending time with her family, reading, and spending time with her beloved dog Cody.

She is survived by her three daughters; Donna (Barry) Bender of Las Vegas, NV, Jeanie (Jerry) Puzey of Hurricane, UT, and Jill Scott of Salt Lake City, UT; 13 grandchildren; and 18 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her four sisters, her husband, and her son Daniel L. Miller Jr.

Funeral services will be held Friday, September 2, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Hurricane LDS 11 ^th Ward Chapel, 452 North 2600 West, Hurricane, Utah. A visitation will be held Friday, prior to services, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the Chapel. Interment will be held Monday, September 5, 2011 at the Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola, Florida. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Metcalf Mortuary, (435) 673-4221.
