St. George, Utah - Lunell Montierth Visser, at the age of 77, lost her long fight with cancer. She passed away in her home on Tuesday, July 26, 2011. Lunell was born on October 1, 1933 in Safford, Arizona to Byron Lucean Montierth and Venetta Iva Cluff. She met her sweetheart, S. Dennis Visser while she was in the 11th grade in school. They were married in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on June 18, 1951. Together they made Southern California there home state for many years. Lunell loved music and took piano lessons while raising five children. Later when all of the children were grown-up, she taught herself to how to play the organ. In 1989, Dennis and Lunell retired and moved to St. George. They received a calling to serve as temple workers in 1991. Lunell used her determination to learn the organ so well that one of her assignments in the temple was to play the organ there. They served faithfully together until August 2010, only taking a break to serve as full time missionaries from 2002 to 2004 in the Slovenia, Ljubljana Mission. Lunell was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers Organization since 1998. She loved learning more about her pioneer heritage while serving in the community. Lunell loved to paint and has graced her home and the home of her children with her art work she created. Lunell loved to always learn about healthy living. She enjoyed finding new recipes and trying them out. She loved walking and doing yoga with her friends. Lunell was preceded in death by her parents; younger brother, Johnny; and her Special Son , Randall Kyle Visser. She is survived by her husband, Dennis Visser; her siblings: Edie Durham and Gary Montierth; her children: Larry (Deanna) Visser, Linda (Alan) Trask, Johnny (Tracie) Visser and Mike (Jill) Visser;18 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 30, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Metcalf Mortuary Chapel, 288 West St. George Blvd., St. George, Utah. Visitations will be held Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday, prior to services, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., both at Metcalf Mortuary.
