Bunker
July 2, 1921 – December 14, 2016
St. George, Utah – Our loving father, grandfather, and husband, Robert Lynn Bunker, 95, peacefully passed away surrounded by family at his home on December 14, 2016. He was born on July 2, 1921 in Overton, Nevada to John Mathieson and Eloise Turnbaugh Bunker.
Lynn was fortunate to find two great loves during his lifetime. He married Eleanore Ronnow in the St. George LDS Temple in 1949, and was blessed with 5 children. She preceded him in death in 1976. He married Gail Crawford in the St. George LDS Temple on December 15, 1977, and their union brought together a loving family of 12 children.
Lynn attended grade school and high school in Las Vegas, NV. During his senior year in High School, Lynn moved to San Diego, where he graduated from San Diego High and was voted most handsome in his class. Lynn served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Eastern States Mission from 1942-1944. Upon returning from his mission he served as a military officer in the army during World War II.
A native of Nevada, he made a career in retail management as general manager and served on the board of directors for Vegas Village in Las Vegas. In 1980, he moved his family to St. George and became a small business owner. As a self-taught man, and at the age of 70, Lynn built the home where he and his family have resided for the past 26 years.
Lynn's life was filled with service to his church, community, and family. He served in many positions within the church, including Stake Presidencies and in High Priest Quorums. He had a beautiful gift of translating feelings and impressions into words, and served as a Stake Patriarch in Las Vegas, Nevada and St. George, Utah for 32 years and gave over 2000 blessings.
Lynn is survived by his wife, Gail Crawford Bunker, and his children: Stephen (Teri) Bunker, Barbara Ronnow-Bunker, Joy (Dale) Franc, Jan (Steve) Sharp, Paul (Denise) Bunker, Howard (Tina) Abrams, Kim (Brett) Marshall, David (Stephanie) Abrams, Michele Wellborn, Tiffany Abrams, Jill Bunker, and Kristen (Mitchel) Murdock as well as 32 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
