IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lynn E.
Hogan
March 13, 1943 – August 26, 2021
Ivins, Utah – Lynn Errol Hogan, 78, passed away August 26, 2021 after a brief illness. He was born March 13, 1943, in Lake Point, Utah to Arthur George Hogan and Fern Clement Hogan.
Lynn was born on March 13, 1943 to Arthur and Fern Clement Hogan in Lake Point, Utah. He had two siblings, Byron Hogan and Barbara Terry. He attended Tooele High School and married his high school sweetheart, Gloria Thomas. Lynn and Gloria were married on June 22, 1962 and were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they had five children.
Lynn and Gloria lived in Tooele until after Christi's birth, at which time they moved to Idaho Falls, Idaho. They lived in Idaho Falls for a couple of years, then moved to Ucon, Idaho , where they built a new home. They lived in Ucon for two years before accepting a position with a car dealership in Salt Lake City. Lynn was excited about the move because it brought his family closer to home. They moved into a new home in Sandy where they would spend the next 30 years.
Lynn was extremely fond of automobiles and spent his career working in the automotive industry. He worked at several dealerships in the parts and service department and retired from Mark Miller Pontiac in Salt Lake.
In 2008, Gloria passed away leaving a big hole in Lynn's heart. A year later, while serving a mission at the LDS Conference Center, he met Diane Ririe. They were soon married and continued to serve at the Visitors Center. They moved to Ogden, Utah for a short time where they both worked in the Ogden Temple. After a short time in Ogden they moved to Ivins, Utah where they built a home together. Lynn continued to serve in any capacity he could. Both he and Diane worked in the St. George temple and Lynn could be found at his computer every morning working on genealogy.
Throughout his life he served in numerous leadership positions in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He loved the gospel and was willing to share it in any way he could. He supported numerous missionaries, both family members and non-family members. He took great pride in having a freshly pressed white shirt, and freshly shined shoes every Sunday.
Another one of Lynn's passions was his yard. Throughout his life he took great pride in having a well-manicured yard and was often found helping various neighbors with theirs. His cars and lawn mower were always well cared for and shined in the sun. Lynn enjoyed carpentry projects and did a full remodel of his basement in Sandy, designed and built a custom deck.
Lynn loved going on Sunday drives and they were a staple in his life. Another staple of Lynn's life was a clean and well-organized garage. He could pack more things into his garage than humanly possible and still have room to park his cars.
Lynn was a huge NASCAR fan and would often be found in front of the TV cheering on his favorite driver on race day. He also was a die-hard Utah Jazz and BYU Cougars fan. He loved to banter with his family that cheered for the Utah Utes.
Lynn is proceeded in death by his wife, Gloria; his brother, Byron and his parents. He is survived by his wife, Diane; his sister ,Barbara Terry (Dale) and his children: Tracy Enser (Trent), Debbie Hough (Jeff), Stephanie Hooker, Craig Hogan (Lalania), Christi Chidister and Diane's children: Barbara Montgomery (Greg), Denise Snyder (Dave), and Jodi Leach (Eric). He enjoyed all of his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great's and loved working alongside his wife, Diane as they grew together, not only building a house, tending gardens, and temple work - but in love.
