Obituary

Our beautiful mother, sister and grandmother, Mabel Knell Bowler Welch passed away peacefully in her home May 2, 2023, after battling a long road of multiple sclerosis for 31 years.

Mabel was born March 9, 1942, to Richard (Dick) Bowler and Helen Chadburn Bowler of Veyo, Utah. She was 1 of 7 kids. She was raised in Veyo, Utah.

She attended Dixie High School and then married David Thomas Welch in 1957, in Veyo, Utah. They had 3 children, Cindy, Scott, and Rick.

She worked for the City of St George Offices, Knudsen Dairy and Roadside Market.

She then divorced after 46 years of marriage and moved to Winchester Hills, where she and her dogs lived the remainder of her life. She loved her family, house, neighbors, and friends. She lived in a very special neighborhood.

Mabel was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served many callings in her life. She loved the church which even in her last crippling day she had a calling. The gospel was so important to her.

Mabel was always up for any type of adventure. She followed her family and grandkids around. The always were on the go with rodeo, hunting, camping, arrowhead hunting and watching the NFL Football games, "Go Kansas City Chiefs!"

She will always be remembered by her positive attitude. You could trust her by keeping any deepest darkest secret. She was always a good listener; you could always talk to her without judgement. Even with her in a wheelchair she always tried to serve as many people as she could.

She had a loving heart, and her voice will be remembered with the words; "What can I do for you?"

Mable is survived by her 3 children; daughter Cindy (Tony) Cannon of St George Ut, son Scott (Tami) Welch of St George, Ut, and son Rick Welch of St George Ut; sister, Colleen (Art) Durfee of Veyo Ut; 11 grandchildren, and also great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her 3 sisters, Roma Staheli, Willma Leavitt, and Colleen Cannon: her 2 brothers Jack and Kay Bowler.

The family would like to thank the hospice community who have been so kind and loving to Mabel through this adventure.
