Obituary

St. George, UT - Margaret Afton Toolson Gardner passed away June 18, 2009 in St. George, UT. She was born February 9, 1925 in Burley, Idaho. She met Rulon B. Gardner at Utah State University and they were married in 1947. They had five children: Rulon J., James R., Stephen T., Robert J. and Janet P., and were married 59 years until Rulons passing in 2006. Most of Rulons working years were with the U.S. Forest Service so Margaret wrangled the family from forest to forest from Alaska to Michigan. There were lots of changes and challenges but Margarets family could always count on a loving, nurturing home. Next to her family, Margaret loved playing the piano and organ at church the most and did so most of her life. Margaret and Rulon spent 20 years in Bozeman, MT., before retiring to St. George in 1985. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 23, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at the Bloomington Hills LDS 10th Ward, 1222 E. Brigham Rd., St. George, UT. A visitation will be held Monday, 6-8 p.m. at Metcalf Mortuary, 288 W. St. George Blvd., St. George, Utah and Tuesday from10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the chapel, prior to services. Interment will be in the Pine Valley Cemetery under the direction of Metcalf Mortuary 435-673-4221.
