Hurricane, Utah - Margaret Tippetts Johnson, 96, left this life with dignity, on the 24th of July 2015, with fireworks bursting in the night sky. She so loved this mortal life even though she suffered from the effects of polio at age eight. Margaret made adjustments for this disability and raised her family well with no complaints. Her family is very precious to her and her love overflowed to extended family members. Many visits were made to just feel of her love. Margaret was the seventh of eight children born to Ishmael Harrison and Rose Elizabeth Tippetts on May 7, 1919 in a log cabin in Lovell, Wyoming. The family relocated to the Delta, Utah area when she was five years old growing up in Hinckley, Utah and finishing her younger years in Sutherland, Utah. She graduated from Delta High School in 1938. After school she found work in a general store in Wendover, Nevada where she met the love of her life. After nine days of courting they were engaged and married that same year on December 27, 1940 in the St. George LDS Temple. She spent the next few years traveling the country supporting her husband on the U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey Team. After their two oldest sons were born they settled down in Southern Utah. Hurricane has been home for the past 66 years. She was an active member of the LDS Church and served in many callings. Of those, working in the Temple as an ordinance worker and patron were completely fulfilling. We love you Mom and "May God be with you until we meet again." Margaret is survived by her son, Dean (Marcia) Johnson of Hurricane, Utah; three daughters: Joyce (Dennis) Church of Hurricane, Angela (Tom) Gentry of North Logan and Coleen (Bret) Sevy of St. George; two daughters-in-law: Julie Ann Johnson and Linda Lee Johnson, both of Hurricane; 35 grandchildren; 96 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 74 years; Ivan Marshall Johnson, two sons: Jack Marshall Johnson and Michael Joseph Johnson; two grandsons: Sam Johnson and Brian Micha Justice; and a great-granddaughter, Paige Johnson. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 31, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Hurricane LDS 10th Ward Heritage Building, 1178 South 700 West, Hurricane, Utah. A visitation will be held prior to services, from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. at the Chapel. Interment will be at the Hurricane City Cemetery.
