Hold on to yourselves, this one is going to hurt. On July 21 at 3:10 AM, Marian Lang Terry took her last breath. This beautiful, vivacious, sexy, wonderful woman was born in Safford, AZ on November 18, 1933 to George & Lorena McEuen Lang. Marian grew up in various locales, mostly due to the expansion of the Lang Oil company into Maywood, CA where she attended Bell High School & was chosen Prom Queen. Later, the family moved to Farmington, NM. Her brilliant father and loving mother reared her to be strong & generous and this Scorpio woman nicknamed Tiger was one of the strongest people any of us will ever know. Being a single parent for most of the formative years of her children, Marian often held multiple jobs to provide for them. She was a strict mommy with a velvet gloved hand and watched over her children like an Eagle. Twice a widow (Waylon Smith, Albin Liebscher) & twice divorced (Darwin Terry, Jerry Hutchison), she never wavered in her strength & convictions based on the power of prayer and positive attitude. Oft times one could hear the stereo playing in her home and you would find her dancing or singing along, all the while baking bread or rolls, cooking or cleaning, but always laughing. All who knew her can attest to the never-ending stream of hysterical and often risque jokes she would relish in telling, and she could be extremely expressive with a mischevious twinkle in her eye. She loved making those around her feel the joy of laughter. She was an accomplished pianist & loved playing card games. In her career Marian became an expert bookkeeper & an esteemed administrative assistant. Not a soul left her home without a care package . She believed in and practiced a 12 step program for over 35 years. She advocated for educational programs to Utah students on the dangers of Alcohol Abuse. She was an excellent public speaker and taught the Boy Scouts in her LDS ward for several years. No one could get a campfire going faster on family excursions than Marian! All who knew Marian, would agree that they Always felt welcome in her home. Many have stated that Marian saved my life ! She will be so sorely missed. Marian was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Riley, Carlos,Carol, and Alan Lang. She is survived by her children, Becky Lees (Gil), Lee (Amy), Kim Ansell (Dan), Dave & Lang Terry; grandchildren Carrie, Michelle & Jennifer Lees; Tashae, Bryndi, & Destiny Terry, seven greatgrandchildren, and several cousins. The family would like those who shared any time at all with this most Outstanding Lady to submit one of your Marian Stories to be included in a printed tribute to her. The Memorial Service will be at 11 AM, Thurs July 30th at the LDS 6th Ward, 400 E 100 S, St. George, Utah. A luncheon will be thereafter in same location. Please RSVP to Lee Terry at 435-862-9362 or Kim Ansell at 435-689-1981.
