Our loving mother, age 87, peacefully left this life and joined her husband, Jim, Saturday afternoon, January 19, 2013. She was born on September 19, 1925 in Salt Lake City, Utah to John Lamont and Inez Robinson Preece. She married her eternal companion, James Lawrence Taylor on September 28, 1956 in the Salt Lake Temple. Mom was raised in Salt Lake City, Utah with her 2 sisters. Mom has fond memories of living close to her grandparents, going up to their cabin with all of her cousins, and going to sporting events with her dad. Mom attended the University of Utah and BYU where she received a degree in Education. Mom taught 5th and 2nd grades at Ensign Elementary. In her later years she also enjoyed volunteering at Bloomington Hills Elementary. She was a member of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and went on their first choir trip to Europe in 1955. Mom enjoyed doing counted cross stitch, singing, playing games, giving readings, collecting violets, and traveling with Dad. Her grandchildren will always remember the picnics, walking the dike, eating ice cream, and miniature golfing with her. Her greatest love was her family and being with her husband "Red." Marjorie was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She enjoyed serving in many positions in the church but liked Primary the best. Mom and Dad served a mission at the St. George Historical Sites and also served in the St. George Temple for many years. She is survived by her children; Becky (Mark) Woodbury of St. George, Barbara (Mark) Fenstermaker of Sandy, Utah, John Taylor of Corvallis, Oregon and grandchildren; Lynette (Rick) Ballard, Curtis (Meleah), Kristen, Lindsay, McKay, and Kimmie; great grandson; Tacoma, sisters: Jean Little of British Columbia, Canada, and Barbara Worthington of Salt Lake City, Utah. Our family would like to thank everyone at Cliffview Assisted Living for their loving and dedicated care to our parents. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 26th at 11:00 a.m. at Metcalf Mortuary, 288 West St. George Blvd. with a viewing from 9:30 to 10:30 prior to the service.
