St. George, Utah – Mark Clair Christensen passed away peacefully December 18, 2021, at his home in St. George, Utah, surrounded by his loving wife and four devoted children. He was 80 years old.
Born December 20, 1940, in Brigham City, Utah, to Dale Clair Christensen and Violet Lela Varney. He spent most of his younger years living in Oakland, CA. He graduated from Piedmont High School in Piedmont, CA in 1958. He continued his education at Brigham Young University and Utah State University studying Mechanical Engineering.
Mark was an entrepreneur and inventor. He was successful at operating several of his own businesses throughout his life but was also employed at Novell and Brigham Young University for a period of time. He also worked as a consultant at Hercules Industries where he designed machines used for the rocket engines by NASA for the space program.
His most recent venture was developing the process to create St. George Nano Silver, which is an all-natural antibiotic manufactured by his company, St. George Medicinal Herbs Inc. located in St. George, Utah.
In 1959, while attending BYU, he met his lifelong sweetheart, Zelta VirGean Olsen. They were married on July 12, 1960, in the Manti, Utah Temple. They have been married for over 61 years. Mark was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many callings throughout his life. He also served several missions for the Church. His testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ was strong, and he was ready to return into our Savior presence.
Mark is survived by his wife, Zelta VirGean Olsen Christensen; and his children: Kimberly (Jerry) Young, Kevin Mark Christensen, Kandace (Billy) Maynard, Kourtnie (Ty) Neumann; 13 grandchildren; and four great granddaughters.
In addition to his parents, Mark was preceded in death by his youngest son, Kyle Patrick Christensen.
Mark loved his family. He was a devoted husband and dedicated father and grandfather. He will be greatly missed by his loved ones.
"Please, do not be sad or shed a tear for I'll be spending Christmas with Jesus Christ this year".
Graveside services with be held on Monday, December 27, 2021, at 1:00 pm at Tonaquint Cemetery located at 1777 South Dixie Drive, St. George, Utah.
