Obituary

Marsha Bastian Hamlin, 84, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2026, surrounded by the love of her husband and children.

Born on January 10, 1942, in Salina, Utah, Marsha lived a private life marked by deep love for her family, gentle strength, and steady devotion to those she loved. Though she rarely sought attention for herself, those closest to her knew her as a caring mother, devoted wife, and someone who delighted in simple joys and meaningful time with family and friends.

She dearly loved her parents and siblings and carried those bonds with her throughout her life. Marsha gave generously of herself in thoughtful and caring ways, never seeking recognition but offering kindness, acceptance, and quiet encouragement to those around her. Her greatest happiness came from her family and from watching those she loved grow and flourish.

One of Marsha’s greatest joys was adventure, whether traveling the open road, discovering new places, or flying with her husband in their Cessna 182 to remote work locations or visits with family. She loved experiencing the beauty of the world around her and carried a spontaneous spirit that embraced life with joy.

As a mother, she encouraged her children to seek meaningful and life-expanding opportunities, always supporting their interests, adventures, and growth. Her husband often gave Marsha full credit for the loving upbringing of their children and for creating a home where kindness, faith, loyalty, and strong family connection could flourish.

Though life brought its share of challenges, Marsha met them with resilience, grace, and enduring love for her family. Her warm spirit and beautiful smile remained with her throughout her life and blessed all who knew her.

In her later years, she was lovingly and faithfully cared for by her husband, Pier Kim Murray Hamlin, whose devotion remained constant throughout their more than 50 years of marriage. He often shared that their relationship grew even closer through the years. Together, they built a life grounded in love, hard work, commitment, and faith.

She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Ernest and Elaine Draper Bastian, and her dear sister, Tonyia Jensen.

She is survived by her husband, Pier Kim Murray Hamlin; her children, Don “Bobby” Hamlin (Ami), Dusty Hamlin (Jenne), and Tina Bingham (Jefferson); her grandchildren, Henry and Grace Hamlin, Tikvah Hamlin, Jaxton Bingham (Whitney), Kyrie Walker (William), Maxwell Bingham (Taylor), August Bingham, and Rayce Bingham; her siblings, VerLynn Johnson, Russell Bastian (Kathy), and Tim Bastian (Doris); her many nieces and nephews; her ever-growing number of adored great-grandchildren; and many who will remember her sweet nature, beautiful smile, and enduring love for her family.

She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
