MaryAnn King Turner, 91, passed away on October 4, 2026. Known lovingly as Mom, Crazy Gram, Granny, and Aunt Dope, she leaves behind a lifetime of memories filled with adventure, laughter, and love.
MaryAnn was born July 23, 1935, and raised in Vernal, Utah – where, she would tell you, they have the best flowerpots. She grew up alongside her siblings, Lynne and Floyd (Butch). In her younger years, she was a rodeo queen, a member of the pep club, and an enthusiastic participant in 4-H, winning many competitions.
In 1956, MaryAnn married Patrick Charles Stanford Sullivan. Together, they had three children: Kyle Patrick Sullivan (Lynn), Annette Kilpack (Ray), and Kris Christensen (Scott). They later divorced, and in 1981, she married Max Leslie Turner.
MaryAnn and Max shared a love of adventure, traveling by motorcycle all over the United States. Later, they continued their travels in their fifth wheel and then their motor home. She also enjoyed cruises and exploring other countries. In the early 1980’s, they started Kings Row Retirement Park, where they built lifelong friendships.
An accomplished seamstress, MaryAnn brought talent and care to the things she created. She loved playing games with friends, working on puzzles, watching the Jazz, watching and playing softball, bingo, and golf. Her Beanie Baby collection and catalog shopping were favorite indulgences, as were black licorice and the mints that could always be found at the bottom of her purse.
MaryAnn was a giver, honest to a fault, and full of personality. With her lipstick on and her hair always done, she approached life in her own unmistakable style. Each of her affectionate nicknames holds its own stories, laughter, and memories for those who knew and loved her.
Her family grew to include nine grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren, each part of the life and legacy she leaves behind.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Copper Creek and Ovation Hospice (Rachel) for the love, care, and friendship they gave to our MaryAnn.
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered – with every game played, every piece of black licorice shared, and every glimpse of beautiful flowerpots in Vernal.
A visitation will be held Sunday, October 11th, 2026, from 3:00-5:00 p.m., at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 S. Redwood Rd., Taylorsville, Utah. A graveside will follow on Tuesday, October 13th, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., at the Washington City Cemetery, 300 Park View Dr., Washington, Utah.
