St. George, Utah – Mary A. Brown, 97, passed away August 26, 2020 in St. George, Utah. She was born on January 18, 1923 to James Stephen and Mary Jane Matson Allen in Provo, Utah. She married Arnold Dean Brown on October 27, 1943 in Provo, Utah. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple.

Mary grew-up and attended school in Provo, graduating from Provo High School. She was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers.

Mary and Arnold loved to have friends over to play cards and socialize. Her husband passed away 45 years ago on January 31, 1975.

Mary was always looking for opportunities to serve others. She loved to give off the wall gifts to her grandchildren, like decorated tissue boxes.

Mary is survived by her children: Josephine (LuDell) Hutchings of Ivins, Ray Dean (Linda) Brown of California, Edward Arnold (Lynda) Brown of Baltimore, Maryland, and Mary Nannette Hatch of Burbank, California; 14 grandchildren; and many great and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and all of her siblings.

Graveside services will be held Monday, August 31, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at the Provo City Cemetery, 610 South State Street, Provo, Utah.
