Mary Ellen Harter
St. George, Utah- Mary Ellen Harter, beloved of wife of Alan Raymond Harter (deceased), and mother of five (5) passed away peacefully at her residence in St. George, Utah on February 7, 2026.
Mary was born on October 15, 1938, to parents Donald and Helen Mathews in Watsonville, California. Shortly thereafter, her family relocated to Cedar City, Utah, where she remained up and until early adulthood. Mary attended Cedar High School, and graduated in 1956. Mary became engaged to her classmate, Alan Raymond Harter in 1956, and they were married on May 31, 1957, in the St. George Temple, where they were sealed for time and all eternity.

Upon graduation, they made the decision to relocate back to the west coast. Her husband Alan worked for The District Attorney's Office for both Esmeralda County, and Clark County, Nevada. After a number of years, Mary supported Alan's decision to go into private practice where she served as his legal secretary up and until he retired. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who spent a majority of her time as a temple worker in the Las Vegas, Nevada Temple. Upon retirement, Mary and Alan relocated to St. George, Utah for the remainder of their time on earth. She served faithfully as a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in a variety of leadership and service capacities.
