Obituary

Pat Hinkle passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, Oct. 11. She was born in Cambria, Wyoming on November 28, 1918, the fourth child of nine born to Elizabeth and Roy Malloy. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and three sisters. Surviving sisters are Betty Noonan and Peggy Deller of St. George. Pat never had any children of her own, but she was a cherished and loving aunt to her numerous nieces and nephews throughout her years. Pat was a precocious child and her family called her "Little Mother" because of the loving care and help she gave as each succeeding child was born. She graduated from Central High School in Sioux City, Iowa in 1930. In 1937 she married Lester "Leon" White and moved with him to Oklahoma City, where she lived for the next 65 years. Leon died of cancer in 1957. She remained a widow for the next 30 years and dedicated her life to her job, which she loved, as Vice President of Oklahoma Mortgage Company. She was also very active during these and later years as a member of Beta Sigma Phi, a philanthropic sorority for women. She held almost every office at one time or another in this organization. On April 25, 1987 she married the love of her later life, Raymond Hinkle and spent 13 years of retirement with this wonderful man. He passed away in 2000 and in 2002 Pat moved from Oklahoma to St. George to be near her remaining two sisters, Betty and Peggy. She was active for a short while in the St. George chapter of Beta Sigma Phi, and was a member of Bloomington Country Club, where she enjoyed playing bridge and attending the BCC Ladies Club luncheons. Funeral arrangements are directed by Metcalf Mortuary. A viewing will be held from 9:30 to 9:45 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 15 at the mortuary, with a 10:00 a.m. Requiem Mass at St. George Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made (no matter how small or large) to the St. George Catholic Church Building Fund, P. O. Box 188, St. George, UT 84770.
