IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mary Lynne
Horton
August 10, 1936 – May 27, 2022
Pleasant Grove - On Friday May 27, 2022, Mary Lynne Horton passed away at the age of 85 and was finally freed from her Alzheimer's and was reunited with her sweetheart, Jim.
Mary Lynne was born in Seattle, WA on August 10, 1936, to Dale and Faith Carter Foster. She was a Rainbow Girl, Pasco High School's National Thespians President, one of the co-valedictorians (along with future husband, Jim). She attended the University of Washington and was a member of the Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority. She graduated from Brigham Young University and was a school teacher and homemaker, mastering the art of quilting, sewing, canning, cooking, gardening, budgeting, and planning the Family Home Evenings. She was a great home decorator and kept an immaculate home (with 4 chore contributors), laundry never backed up, and somewhere in there she threw herself into her callings for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She traveled through Europe finding relatives and ancestors for genealogy. She worked in the Temple, as well as submitting and completing the ordinances for ancestors and others.
She supported Jim in his career and the family moved where the job was. Soon after their marriage, they moved to Japan while Jim finished his Air Force service. They returned and headed to Brigham Young University and lived in Orem, Utah while attending school. They moved to Thousand Oaks, CA; Trumbull, Connecticut; Kennewick, WA; Livermore, CA; and retired in the most central location for the family St George, UT. She loved to travel, visiting Canada, Mexico, Europe, Israel, Puerto Rico and all but a handful of states. She was up for a road-trip, air, train, and cruise ship. She and Jim had owned personal airplanes and enjoyed the freedom, and you know she loved the Autobahn because she loved to speed!
Mary Lynne was preceded in death by her husband, Jim and brother Lyle Foster. She is survived by her four children: Steve (Cali) of Peoria AZ, Rick (Merianne) of Humble TX, Tom (Deena) of American Fork UT, LeAnn Horton of Tracy CA; 17 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her niece and nephews whom she helped raise: David, Craig, Gary Foster, and Evelyn Grimme.
A memorial service will be held Saturday June 11, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Metcalf Mortuary, 288 W. St. George Blvd., St. George, Utah. The viewing will be at 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
