IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mary Elizabeth
Labrum Nielson
February 14, 1932 – December 11, 2024
St. George, Utah - Mary Elizabeth Labrum Nielson passed away peacefully at her home accompanied by loved ones on December 11, 2024. She was born on February 14, 1932 in Meadow, Utah to Blanche and Cyril Labrum. Her teachers and classmates made her feel very special on her Birthday/Valentines Day. A big party was always on to celebrate such a great lady. She spent her early years in her hometown before meeting her husband of 60+ years Norman Nielson, in Fillmore, Utah. They had three boys Kim, Kirk, and Kris, as well as three girls Debi, Marianne, and Lisa. She was preceded in death by her husband and three boys.
Mary spent much time working on the family farm early in her life before meeting her husband. She also worked at a children's clothing store. They moved to Covina, California where they raised all of their children. She liked the outdoors, playing and watching sports, especially baseball and football. She was even in a fantasy football league for several years and was the winner on multiple occasions. The youngsters were amazed at how she picked her teams. She loved trips to Laguna Beach where she could watch and listen to the ocean waves. Her favorite flower was the bird of paradise. After moving to St. George, she spent much time watching the hummingbirds, roadrunners and sunsets from her deck overlooking the golf course during happy hour. She hosted many parties and family gatherings, and everyone loved to watch Norm and Mary dance. She took pleasure in being a mother and grandmother and loved her cocker spaniels.
Mary was very warmhearted; she had many wonderful qualities that made people gravitate to her wherever she went; selfless, hardworking, humorous, understanding, welcoming are a few. A one-of-a-kind spirit that is truly uplifting to all. She was an example to many and will be missed dearly by many more.
Mary is survived by her three daughters, eleven grandchildren, and eight great- grandchildren.
The family would like to thank her caretakers Rose, Tammy, Coco and Enhabit Hospice for their wonderful care and friendship and for keeping Mary comfortable and peaceful in her final stages of life.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
