IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mary Rossetto
Mchenry
July 7, 1932 – May 21, 2013
What a wonderful full life I have lived, even during the last four years while managing my life with pancreatic cancer. I was brought into this life on July 6, 1932 by my Spanish American mother Candelaria E. Rossetto and my Italian father John B. Rossetto. I grew up during the great depression and graduated with many friends from South High School in 1949. Working alongside my father at his restaurant Alecks Caf and Broiler, a Salt Lake French and Italian landmark, was a proud moment in my life and also where I met my husband to be Robert L. McHenry. It was a wonderful spring day on May 5, 1955 when we were married in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. We closed the restaurant in 1964 and that gave me the opportunity to explore many opportunities. I was a buyer for the Paris Department store that gave me the skills to open my own business wholesaling childrens clothing all over the western United States. When my husband, an executive in the oil and gas industry, took a job in Denver, I was excited for the opportunity. He retired in the late eighties and helped me expand my business into the Denver Mercantile Mart where he and I enjoyed the opportunity to be together and travel around the western United States. I ended up in St. George, Utah in 2005 to be with family and enjoy the winter warmth.
The one thing Bob and I loved to do was, volunteer. In Golden Co. we both helped at the Golden Police Department, doing any task around the office and working on National Policemens night out. We also volunteered at the Golden Chamber of Commerce where we met and helped people from all over the world. In St. George, we also worked at the Washington City Police Department and at the Huntsman Senior Games. We volunteered at the St. George Catholic Church by cooking for the soup kitchen and working in the thrift shop. Volunteerism was a wonderful way to make new friends and give ourselves back to the community.
My parents left me in the late fifties and early seventies, but I have been able to spend real quality time with my sister Ida R. Smith (Bob deceased) since she moved to St. George in 2012. I am also leaving behind my close nephew John R. Smith (Kriss) also in St. George and my niece Patty Walker (Jim) now living in Hawaii.
I have arranged for my funeral Mass to be at the St. George Catholic Church, 259 West 200 North, St. George, Utah at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 29, 2013. A visitation will be held at Metcalf Mortuary, 288 West St. George Blvd. from 12:00 to 12:45 p.m., prior to services. Interment will be at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Salt Lake City on Thursday, May 30, at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a contribution to the Intermountain Healthcare Foundation for further development of cancer treatment facilities in the St. George area or the Huntsman Cancer Research Center in SLC, Utah. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Metcalf Mortuary, (435) 673-4221.
Thank you to all who have helped me over the past few years, I greatly appreciated it and God bless you all.
