Obituary

St. George, Utah - Mary Jean "Jeannie" Bevard Schmidt Reeves passed away peacefully on June 27, 2022 in St George, Washington Co, UT surrounded by her beloved family whom she adored! Everyone who knew her loved her for how she shared her love, hugs, and smiles. She passed from complications of aging and diabetes.

She was the younger of two daughters, born January 14, 1939, in Pioche, Lincoln Co, NV to Walter Harold and Iona Leavitt Bevard. She was raised until age 10 in Pioche when the family moved to Commerce, CA in May 1949. She graduated Montebello High School in 1957.

She married Delmar Jacob Schmidt on October 16, 1958, and they were sealed in the Los Angeles Temple one year later. They have three children, Lawrence 'Larry' Alan, Susan, and Brenda Lynne. While the children were still very little, she found herself a single mom, committing her life to raising, supporting, and nurturing her three children. While still in Los Angeles, she worked at Imperial Pacific record company. Determined to raise her children in Dixie where her mother was born and raised, in February 1974, she and her children moved to Hurricane, UT. After getting a job in St George, she realized she was still commuting, so they moved to St George in July 1975 (with Susan kicking and screaming). She worked at St. George Steel as a bookkeeper for 13 years, then Dixie State for 22 years, retiring in 2015 at age 76. She truly enjoyed and loved her coworkers.

On January 12, 1985, she married her sweet 'Huggy Bear' Leon Jay Reeves. They were married nearly 20 years until Leon passed in January 2004. They were sealed in the St George Utah Temple.

She loved belonging to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, having been a member all of her life. She held many callings, including Relief Society presidencies, Gospel Doctrine teacher, Primary President, and many others. She loves the Lord and was a very prayerful daughter of God. She remained faithful throughout her life and we are so grateful to her for her beautiful example of love, faith and endurance.

She is survived by her three children: Larry (Denna) Schmidt, their 2 daughters Megan and Kennedy; Susan (Jerry) Roam, their 3 daughters and families, Janice (Jason) May, and 4 children Sheldon, Spencer, Shelby and Josh; Jennifer Roam, and son Shawn; Jessica (James) Paulus, and 4 children Kaden (Danie) their 3 children, Kiesha, Kyson and Kelton; and Brenda (Ken) Kenworthy, and 2 sons Reid Clayton, Adam Clayton; nieces and nephews: Ron (Deb) Fike, Stan Fike, Denise (Russ) Robbins, and Michele (Robert) Gardemann;

She is preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Beverly (Grover) Fike; and her husband(s): Delmar Schmidt and Leon Reeves.
