Hurricane, Utah - Matthew Brown Parker passed away July 28, 2011 at Lake Powell in a boating accident. He was born August 6, 1996 in Fountain Valley, California to Michael Brown Parker and Denise Combs Parker. Matthew and his family lived in Costa Mesa and Laguna Hills, California until 2007, when they moved and made their home in Hurricane. Matt was a bright young man with an energetic and inquisitive personality. He was known for his great smile and infectious laugh. He loved people, especially children and his two younger sisters. He also loved animals, particularly the family cat, Lucy. He completed 9th grade at Hurricane Middle School this year, where he was an honor roll student and enjoyed studying computer technology and Japanese. He played the cello for four years, and participated in the intermediate and middle school orchestras. He loved science fiction films, building LEGO creations, and playing video games. He was a Latter-day Saint and, at the time of his passing, was president of his ward's teachers quorum. Matt had wonderful friends who stuck with him in both good and difficult times, and his family will be forever grateful to those who showed him kindness and compassion. We are especially thankful to his Scout leaders, Melvin Terry and Nathen Hepworth, who were with him when he passed from this world and who did everything they could to help and comfort him. Matt is survived by his father and mother; his younger sisters Leann Marie Parker and Rachel Elizabeth Parker; his grandfather Morris Brown Parker III of Newport Beach, California; his grandmother Sandra Lee Black, step-grandfather Wendell Holmes Black, and aunt Sherri Combs Jordan of Hurricane, Utah; and his uncle Christian Aaron Parker and aunt Mariel Ayala Parker of Costa Mesa, California.
