Obituary

On January 5, 2021 in St. George, Utah, Maxine Lee Peltier was taken by the Coronavirus disease. Maxine is preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Andrew and Martha Lee; Hester Atkins and Jacob Collins; and her sister Carla Lee.

Maxine was born on Mathews Plantation in Lafourche Parish, Louisiana on May 20, 1952.  She grew to be a beautiful young woman who would go on to become a beauty queen and debutante while attending CM Washington High School.  As she continued her education at Thibodaux High School, she would bravely face the challenges of school integration before graduating.  Shortly afterwards she moved to Salt Lake City where she would spend much of her life.  There she became a wonderful mother, wife, and a friend to people of all nationalities and every religion.  Mastering several skills and roles she worked various positions at U.S. West Communications and H. W. Lochner Engineering.  After retirement she returned to the Lafourche Parish area where she volunteered her spare time with Child Advocates Services (CASA) and the CM Washington Alumni Association.  Possessing the ability to connect to people and their emotions, she could advocate for their best interest and make conversation with anyone.

She is survived by her daughter and family: Ronielle, Barry, Marcel, and Micah Howard; her eldest son and family: Ronnie, Anna, Daniel, and Anina Peltier; her youngest son: Braxton Peltier; her siblings: Stella Hyde, Perry Collins, Gail Barrows, Kerry Green, Jacqueline Shelby, MaryAnn Haywood, Francine Ross; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.  She was taken from us too soon.  She was a light in this world like no other.
