IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Michael Kay
Mendenhall
September 8, 1953 – July 15, 2024
Michael Kay Mendenhall, passed away at his home on July 15, 2024. Born on September 8, 1953, in Provo, Utah, to Kathlyne Lucy and Kay Wesley Mendenhall, Mike spent most of his life in Las Vegas, where he touched the hearts of many with his kindness and generosity.
Mike was known for his unwavering dedication as a caregiver to his parents, especially in their final years. His thoughtfulness, happiness, and kindness endeared him to all who knew him. Despite his private nature, Mike was always ready to lend a helping hand to his neighbors, who greatly appreciated his frequent check-ins and the chocolates he shared during the Christmas season.
Mike loved gardening, taking walks in the park, and riding his bike in Red Rock Canyon. He had a passion for driving his Thunderbird and riding his motorcycle, and his passion was shared by his parents, who bought a matching Thunderbird. Professionally, Mike maintained and operated heavy equipment for his uncle Bob and worked as a card dealer at the Four Queens Casino alongside his lifelong friend, John Manzonie.
Mike cherished time spent with his family, particularly enjoying flying with his big brother and father. He had a keen interest in collecting knives, amassing a large and eclectic collection. He also found joy in cutting firewood and relaxing by the fireplace during the winter months.
Mike is survived by his brother Tony Mendenhall and his wife Shelly; his nephew Brian Mendenhall and his wife Lori; his nephews and great-nephew Nicholas, Joseph, and Seth Mendenhall; and his niece and great-niece Ragen and Bella Mendenhall.
The family will host a graveside service at Springville Evergreen Cemetery on Thursday, August 1, 2024 at 11:00 AM to honor and remember Mike's remarkable life.
He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
