Michael Anthony
Schumacher
Apr 4, 1958 — Jun 19, 2026
With hearts full of love and profound sadness, we announce the passing of Michael Anthony Schumacher, a beloved father, stepfather, grandfather, brother, and friend. Michael's journey on this earth concluded on June 19, 2026, as he succumbed to a courageous battle with cancer. He was 68 years young.
Born on April 4, 1958, in the charming town of Laramie, Wyoming, Michael was the cherished son of Eugene John Schumacher and Teresa Prota. After the untimely passing of his father, Michael was lovingly raised by his mother Teresa and his devoted stepfather, Harry Greenfield.
Michael's early years were spent in the open landscapes of Wyoming, where he developed a lifelong appreciation for the outdoors. He graduated from Dixie High School in 1976, and soon after, he ventured into the oil fields of Wyoming, harnessing a solid work ethic that would define his professional life. However, it was in the realm of automotive mechanics where Michael found his true calling. For more than three decades, he dedicated his skills to Gene's OK Tire & Muffler in St. George, Utah, before retiring in 2018.
Beyond his work, Michael was a man of diverse passions. He was an avid gardener, nurturing life with the same care he showed his family. His love for cars and model trains was infectious, and he often shared this enthusiasm with his grandchildren, teaching them the intricacies of mechanics with patience and joy. Michael was also a lover of the great outdoors, never shying away from an adventure, be it on the water or in the mountains, rain or shine. You would always find his best friend and dog Skunk with him.
Michael's life was a tapestry woven with community and faith. As an active member of the St. George Elk's Lodge and a dedicated donor to the St. George Catholic Church, he expressed his commitment to service and fellowship. His membership in the Knights of Columbus highlighted his enduring dedication to his faith and community.
To those who knew him, Michael was a man of few words, yet his presence spoke volumes. His wit and occasional stubbornness were endearing traits that made him the remarkable individual he was. He often jested about being invincible, like a cat with nine lives, a testament to his enduring strength and resilience.
Michael is predeceased by his parents Eugene and Teresa; his stepfather Harry; his brother Gene; his brother-in-law Mark Sakaguchi; his sister-in-law Cyndi Schumacher; and his beloved grandson Marcus. He leaves behind a family who adored him: his siblings Toni, Pat, and Joe; his daughter Christina and her husband Hector; his stepchildren Michael and his wife Summer, and Justin and his wife Brittney; his beloved dog Skunk (a.k.a Punkers). Michael's legacy also includes his cherished grandchildren Baylee and her husband John, Kailee and her husband Jim, Eden and their wife Jaden, Anthony and his wife McKayla, Kelcyn, Mason, Paxton, Maddox, and Ashton.
Though Michael did not live to see great-grandchildren, his nine grandchildren were the light of his life, each a testament to the love and teachings he imparted.
A viewing to honor and celebrate Michael's life will be held on June 26, 2026, at 6:00 PM at Metcalf Bonzo Mortuary, located at 288 W St. George Blvd, St. George, UT 84770. His services will be held the following day at the same location starting at 8:30 AM, concluding at 11:00 AM to leave for Tonaquint Cemetery. Family, friends, and all whose lives he touched are warmly invited to join in remembrance and celebration of a life that was lived with integrity, love, and quiet strength.
Michael Schumacher's legacy will forever be etched in the hearts of those who loved him. Though he has departed from this world, his spirit remains alive in the cherished memories of a life well-lived.
