Obituary

Michelle Cox, 39, passed away February 4, 2013, in St. George, UT. She was born August 8, 1973, in Las Vegas, NV, to Raymon and Susan Cox. Michelle lived most her life in Las Vegas. She graduated from Bonanza High School in 1991, University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 1999, and worked as a Registered Nurse at University Medical Center in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. During 1994-95, Michelle served an honorable mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Florida Ft Lauderdale (Spanish Speaking). Because of this experience, Michelle gained a life long love for the Hispanic people and was able to communicate with the families of many patients in their native tongue. Michelle was proud of the work she did as a Nurse and loved the people she helped. She went above and beyond in the care she gave her patients. Often when the child of a less fortunate family be would in the PICU, Michelle would purchase toys, decorations, clothes, and other items to help the child's stay be more comfortable. She became a Charge Nurse several years ago. After becoming ill, Michelle retired from her passion of helping sick kids at UMC and moved to St. George, where she lived most of the last couple years of her life with her angelic parents. Michelle was a tender hearted woman who loved many. Although she did not have children of her own, her nieces and nephews all loved her and considered her to be their second mother, and she loved and spoiled them all. Prior to becoming ill two years ago, Michelle loved traveling and doing many fun activities. She visited New York, Washington, Philadelphia, Hawaii, Boston, and countless other places. Michelle recently returned from a week long visit in Hawaii, one last final fun activity before her mortal body failed her. She has returned to her Heavenly Home to that God who gave her life. She is survived by her parents, Raymon and Susan of St. George, her sister Maria (Dan) Clayton of Rio Rancho, NM, her brothers, Ray (Jenny) of St. George, Michael (Amanda) of Las Vegas, and Bill (Kinsly) of Washington, UT, 8 nephews (Trey, Ben, Jeff, Mikey, Brett, Josh, Trevor and Tyler), 6 nieces (Laura, Suzanne, Kimberly, Emma, Hannah, and Ashley) and many numerous cousins, aunt, uncles, and friends. Everyone who knew Michelle loved her. She dedicated her life to serving others. We hope to follow her Christlike example. We have confidence and faith that our family will be joyfully reunited. The family expresses their appreciation for the many acts of love and compassion of friends, family, neighbors, and Ward members. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 9th at 11:00 am at the LDS Morningside Stake Center (879 S. River Road, St George), with a viewing at 10:00 AM. An additional viewing will be held Friday, February 8th from 6-8 pm at Metcalf Mortuary (288 W. St George Blvd, St George). Interment will be at Tonaquint Cemetery.
