Las Vegas, NV - Mildred Lee Brown-Thacke of Las Vegas passed away January 14, 2010 at her daughter Lornas home surrounded by a loving family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur Alexander Brown and Cora Van Leuven Brown; her husband Daniel E. Thacke; her sisters Pearl Stout and Dorothy Lorraine Smith; and her brothers Donald, Gene, and Sid Brown. She is survived by her brother Lewis Brown of St. George; her daughter Lorna M. Hall; and son Daniel E. Thacke, Jr. of Las Vegas. Mildred was born in Los Angeles, CA on January 12, 1924, but moved to the Arizona Strip with her parents when she was a child. She attended grade school at Bundyville and High School at Hurricane, UT. After high school, Mildred moved to Las Vegas to work at the El Rancho Motor Hotel as a seamstress, later becoming PBX Operator for Southwest Gas Corporation and the City of North Las Vegas. Mildred finished her working career as a highly successful Real Estate Agent. Mildred met and married Daniel E. Thacke of Las Vegas in 1942. Besides her dearly departed husband Dan, her greatest joys of her life were her two children, seven grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. Mildred loved to Motor Coach with her husband and traveling internationally with her daughter Lorna to see China, Australia, South America, England, Scotland and her ancestral homeland of Ireland. The family will miss her contagious optimism and words of encouragement. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Nathan Adelson Hospice-Las Vegas. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at 12:00 p.m. at the Metcalf Mortuary Chapel, 288 W. St. George Blvd., St. George, Utah. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the chapel, prior to services. Interment will be at the St. George City Cemetery.
