Obituary

St. George, Utah – Mildred "Millie" Fenton, 91, passed away Sunday, December 15, 2024. She was born in 1933 to Eugene and Cleo Kittle Rucker in Junior, West Virginia. Shortly thereafter, the family moved to Akron, Ohio. She resided in the Akron area and Mogadore until 1973.

In 1998, Millie retired from the National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, Maryland where she conducted secretarial and office manager duties in the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke. She was a part of the NIH R&W Theater Group, performing ballroom dancing with her husband, Howard. She was President of the NCO & EM Wives Club, a member of the Laurel Garden Club, and later volunteered at the Laurel Senior Activity Center.

Millie married the love of her life, Howard Fenton, in 1973 and they spent 44 years enjoying music, dancing, and laughter with friends and family. They spent the best times travelling to Hawaii, dancing on Sunday afternoons at Pen Mar Park in Pennsylvania or taking dance lessons in Miami, FL. They spent many weekends at their "cabin in The Woods" in Hedgesville, West Virginia.

Millie is survived by her devoted daughter, Jill (Gary) Anderson of St. George, Utah; sisters: Barbara Lewis and Beverly Haus of Green, Ohio; several nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Cleo Rucker; husband of 44 years, Howard "Howie" Fenton; and brother, Eugene Rucker.

Services will be held in Akron, Ohio.
