St. George, Utah - Mildred Ellen Moore Malatesta Woods, age 95, passed away October 21, 2010 to the loving hands of our Lord from St. George, Utah. She was born in Ridley Park, PA on August 23, 1915 to Trueman and Sarah Moore. She married Jesse Malatesta in Boothwyn, PA in 1933 and they had three children: Doris Thomas (Eugene), Jesse David Malatesta, deceased (Peggy) and Daniel Malatesta (Margaret). She lived in Boothwyn, PA until 1937, when they moved to Bethesda/Chevy Chase, MD. She worked at Kenwood Country Club in the accounting office until they moved to Tucson, AZ in 1963. Mildred again worked in an accounting office at Skyline Country Club and was very active in the Immanual Presbyterian Church. Her husband, Jesse, passed away in 1975 and she married Hubert Woods in1978. He passed away in 2000. Because of glaucoma and the inability to drive, she moved to St. George to be closer to family and lived in Sterling Court until 2007 when, because of her health, she moved to Red Cliffs Rehab. While living at Sterling Court, Mildred liked going on the bus ride with the other residents to Mesquite for fun and games. We thank everyone that was involved in her care. Mildred enjoyed reading, playing the piano or organ, bridge, shopping and eating seafood, especially soft shell crabs from the eastern shore of Maryland, and Mexican Food. They were her two favorite places to go for dinner. When she was unable to read herself, she enjoyed books on tape provided by the National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped. Mildred is survived by her daughter, Doris; son, Daniel; and one brother, Trueman (Margaret) Moore who live in Bear, Delaware. She has seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held Saturday, October 30, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church, 611 North 2450 East, St. George, Utah.
