St. George, UT - Mona Delsa Pearson Nielson passed away September 18, 2010. She was born September 7, 1913 in Scofield, Utah to George Waggstaff and Elsie Frost Pearson. She married Willard Kermit Nielson in 1934. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Los Angeles California LDS Temple. Mona is preceded in death by her parents; three sisters: Elizabeth, Naomi and Elsie; her husband, Willard; and three sons: LaMar, Bruce, and Glen. She is survived by one daughter, Karma Mulliner of Santa Clara, Utah; one son, Robert Wayne Nielson of Beaumont, California; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Mona attended schools in Scofield and Price, Utah. After her marriage, she lived in Spring Canyon, Castle Gate and Carbonville, later moving to Fontana, California until 1982. She later moved to St. George, Utah until the time of her death. Mona loved being a homemaker: cooking, baking, sewing and traveling the world. She cruised to Alaska, flew to Hawaii, Europe, Mexico and the Holy Land. She was a fun loving mother and grandmother, always keeping the children involved in sports, music and other activities. She attended many grandchildrens events. So many that she and Grandpa received a prestigious award for the most attended grandparents at basketball and football games, musicals and plays. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 25, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the Metcalf Mortuary Chapel, 288 West St. George Blvd., St. George, Utah. Visitation will be held Saturday from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Mortuary, prior to services. Interment will be at the St. George City Cemetery.
