Obituary

Myrlene F. Nelson, 98, passed away on April 28, 2015 at Prestige Assisted Living in Visalia, California. She was born on November 10, 1916 in St. George, Utah to Jedediah Robert Fawcett and Nina Burgess. Myrlene was raised in St. George. After graduating from high school, she attended beauty school. In 1939, she married Elbert L. Nelson in San Diego, California. For the first 10 years, she and Elbert traveled the western United States while Elbert mapped parts of the region while they raised six boys. Later, they settled in Sacramento and Fremont, California. After Elbert's retirement, they lived in Oakdale, California and eventually returned to St. George, Utah. Elbert passed away in 2002 and Myrlene moved to Visalia, California in 2004 to live with family. Myrlene is preceded in death by her siblings: Clawson, Boyden, Helen and Robert; and two sons, Clawson and Michael. She leaves five sons and their spouses; Monte and Linda Nelson of Arlington, Texas, John and Betsy of Afton, Virginia, Steve and Suzy of Pleasanton, California, Jeff and Barbara of Visalia, California and Rod and Deena of Gainsville, Florida. In addition, she is survived by 18 grandchildren and 39 great grandchildren. Family and friends may pay their respects on Friday, May 8, 2015 from 6:00 pm to 8:00pm at the Metcalf Mortuary, 288 West St. George Blvd., St. George, Utah. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2015, at 9:00 am at the St. George City Cemetery. The family wishes to thank Prestige Assisted Living and Kaweah Delta Hospice for their kind and dedicated services.
