Obituary

Myrtle Marie Frazier Pulley

Myrtle Marie Frazier Pulley, 95, died peacefully at the home of her daughter, Mary Lynn Barber, on Wednesday, March 30, 2016, in St. George, Utah. Born 8 July 1920 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Myrtle Hortense Garrick and Arthur Washington Frazier, the third daughter of seven children.

Marie loved her Mama and Papa and cared deeply for her siblings. She was overjoyed when her little brother, Jimmie, was born on her 9th birthday. When given a choice of household chores, Marie always chose to tend the younger children. Marie talked lovingly of all her siblings, and gathered with them whenever she could. All her descendants know the story of her little brother, David Willard's, death in the Korean War, as she always revered his memory. During WWII, Marie worked in a factory building airplanes and made friends in Baltimore and Hermosa Beach, California.

Marie married Blaine Bateman Pulley in Washoe County, Nevada, on 26 October 1949. Blaine and Marie made their home in Bountiful, with their four children. Having a family was Marie's greatest joy in life and she was a selfless, optimistic, and loving mother. Marie was actively involved in growing and preserving food for their family, and the Pulleys were always known for their beautiful yard and garden. She was an excellent cook and always eager to prepare anything Blaine hunted or grew and was well-known for her delicious apple pies. Marie was a member of the LDS Church and willingly served in many callings in the Bountiful East Stake 23rd Ward. Marie was always cheerful and singing, passing on all her favorite songs from her childhood. She instilled a love of music, poetry, and the English language in all her children and grandchildren. Marie adored her grandchildren and could often be found rocking them on her porch swing or walking them around the block. She was always proud of her talented children and grandchildren and instilled in them loving confidence.

In later years, Marie suffered from dementia and began to forget those closest to her. Janene cared for her and Blaine for many years, but when it came time for them to leave their beloved home, Mary Lynn and Gordon were eager to help. Marie went to St. George to live with them, where she was diligently cared for the last nine years. Blaine predeceased her on 10 February 2008. While with the Barbers, Marie never wanted for love or adoration. Marie always exemplified our Savior with her desire to love and be loved.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, husband, and grandson, David Blaine Phillips. She leaves a loving legacy of children and grandchildren. She is survived by her three daughters, Janene Ellen Pulley Phillips (Robin David Phillips), Devennie Marie Pulley Lander (Scott Dennis Lander), Mary Lynn Pulley Barber (Gordon Keller Barber), and her son, Dan Willard Pulley (Diane Asper Pulley). She leaves 16 grandchildren and 46 great-grandchildren.
