Obituary

St. George, UT - Nancy Jean Blackmer returned home to the open arms of her Heavenly Father and her husband Robert on January 23, 2011. Nancy was born on November 14, 1932 in Muncie, Indiana to Irvin Perry and Dollie Heritage. Nancy spent most of her life in Muncie, Indiana. She married Robert H. Blackmer on July 9, 1949. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Washington D.C. Temple. Robert and Nancy were blessed with seven children, including an unexpected set of triplets. Nancy spent many years working for General Motors in Anderson, Indiana. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many callings throughout her life including serving for three years as a missionary in the Member Locator Mission in St. George, UT. Nancy was married for over 50 years to Robert. She moved to St. George, Utah to live near her daughters after the death of her husband in 2001. Nancy loved the warmth and sunshine of St. George, a very different environment from her years in Indiana. She dearly loved the past 9 years spending time with her daughters and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, daughter Vickie and grandson, Wayne Adams. Nancy leaves behind six children: Gary (wife Linda) of Parker City, Indiana, Tom of Washington, DC, Pamela Bricker (husband Ken) of Ivins, Utah, Debbie McPherson (husband Bruce) of Santa Clara, Utah, Diana Peterson, of Ivins, Utah, and Doreen Anderson (husband Marvin) of Idaho Falls, Idaho. Nancy has 17 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by all those who loved her. She now will have a glorious reunion with those who preceded her in death. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Santa Clara Stake Center, 1706 Desert Dawn Drive, Santa Clara, Utah, A visitation will be held from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. prior to services at the Stake Center. Interment will be at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Muncie, Indiana. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Metcalf Mortuary, (435) 673-4221.
