Hurricane, Utah - Nani Lii Staheli Furse, 51, passed away on the afternoon of Friday, August 7, 2015 in a car accident in Hurricane, Utah. She was born March 20, 1964 in St. George, Utah to Stanford and Charlene Staheli. Nani grew up in Enterprise, Utah in a family where she learned strong values and hard work by cooking for the family and herding cows on horseback. She graduated from Enterprise High School in 1982, and then attended Southern Utah State College where she graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature in 1986. In the spring of 1984, she met her sweetheart, Todd Robison Furse in the library at SUSC, and after much convincing finally agreed to marry him. They were sealed in the St. George LDS Temple on July 5, 1985. Todd and Nani eventually settled in Hurricane after finishing school and a brief stint in Midway, Utah. Over the years they have been blessed with five children, including four boys and one girl. Nani is an accomplished writer and poet, and although she often joked about her extensive collection of rejection slips, her works can be found in several literary and LDS church publications. She also loves music, and she played the flute and piano. She made sure that all of her children learned to play at least one instrument. Nani sacrificed much of herself to raise a good family and to help those around her, and her memory will be cherished for many generations. Nani is survived by her beloved husband, Todd; children: Joseph (Jenny) (28), Mary (25), Jonathan (23), James (20), and Caleb (15); as well as her parents, Stan and Charlene Staheli; and siblings, Yvonne, Lauana (Randy), Mike (Roxanne), Delbert (Linda), Dave (Shelly), Raye Lynn (Phillip), Kevin (Christie), and Daniel (Brittany). She was preceded in death by her brother, Mason. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 14, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Heritage LDS Chapel, 1178 South 700 West, Hurricane, Utah. Visitations will be held on Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Metcalf Hurricane Valley Mortuary located at 140 North Main Street, and on Friday prior to services from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Chapel. Interment will be in the Enterprise City Cemetery.
